GUMBORO, Del. - Authorities are investigating a crash on Careys Camp Road that left a Georgetown man dead.
Delaware State Police say on Sept. 24, around 1:18 a.m., a truck was approaching a sharp curve while traveling on Careys Camp Road, just north of Little Hill Road.
State police say for unknown reasons, the driver failed to make the curve and exited the roadway. The truck reportedly traveled a short distance through a wet grassy area, struck a tree, and ultimately came to a rest after striking another tree.
Police say the driver, Dereck Wong, 20, of Georgetown, died at the scene.
The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues investigating this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to contact Senior Corporal J.
