Veterans Day

DELMARVA - Veterans Day is tomorrow, November 11th, and events and ceremonies across Delmarva are planned to honor and remember all of America’s military veterans, past and present. WBOC has compiled a growing list of those events and services, which will be updated throughout the day, so you too can join in celebrating our veterans.

DELAWARE

Dover - Vietnam Veterans of America Kent County Chapter 850 will hold their annual Veterans Day program on Saturday, November 11, at 2 p.m. at the Kent County Veterans Memorial Park, S. Little Creek Rd.

Lewes - The Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club is hosting their Flags for Heroes event at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cape Henlopen High School, with a presentation of colors and keynote speaker Lt. Colonel Marques A. Bruce.

Lincoln - Courageous Hearts Veterans Family Fun Day to celebrate Delaware’s Heroes kicks off tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Courageous Hearts Farm at 8848 September Way. The event is planned to last until 1 p.m.

Rehoboth Beach - Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7447 plans to commemorate Veterans Day at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand at 11 a.m. Post 7447’s will then host their traditional Open House at the VFW Post Home from 12-2, followed by an Open House at American Legion Post 5 from 2-4 p.m.

Seaford - The City’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony  will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at Kiwanis Park on Stein Hwy (weather permitting). The ceremony will be held at the Seaford HS auditorium in the event of inclement weather.

MARYLAND

Church Creek - Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources and Park Service are hosting a Veterans Day Special Program at Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park to highlight the contributions and legacies of African American Women who took roles as spies and nurses during the Civil War. The program is set to begin at 1 p.m.

Ocean City - A Veterans Day Program is slated at the American Legion Post 166 on Philadelphia Ave from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, with light refreshments to follow.

Ocean Pines - Ocean Pines will commemorate Veterans Day at 11 a.m. at the memorial grounds, hosted by the Worcester County Veterans Memorial Foundation. Guest speaker Col. David Cahn, patriotic music from the Delmarva Chorus, and a color guard presentation of local American Legion representatives will be included in the ceremony.

Salisbury - The Wicomico County War Memorial Committee is hosting a Veterans Day Ceremony in front of the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury at 11 a.m. Saturday.

VIRGINIA

Chincoteague - Chincoteague’s American Legion Auxiliary Unit 159 is holding a Veterans Day service at 10 a.m. tomorrow, November 11th at their post at 4023 Main Street. 

Parksley - American Legion Post 100 Veterans Day Celebration is planned for Saturday, November 11th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Parksley Pavillion. The event is free for veterans, and a $10 donation is suggested for friends or family.
