SALISBURY, MD - Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano has submitted her proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget to the County Council for their review.
Giordano’s budget includes a $3 million reduction in property tax rates according to the Executive’s office, bringing the proposed rate from $0.84 to $0.80 per $100 of assessed value.
“We are proud to deliver a fiscally responsible budget that not only lowers the tax burden on our citizens, but also makes key investments in our future,” said County Executive Giordano. “This proposal reflects our commitment to supporting education, enhancing public services, and improving the quality of life for everyone in Wicomico County — even in the face of tightened financial constraints at the state level.”
The budget also fully funds the Wicomico County Board of Education’s $55 million appropriation request and provides raises for all county staff, Giordano’s office says. Funding for infrastructure improvements, public safety investments, and park and recreation upgrades are also included in the proposal, Giordano says.
General revenue is estimated at $216,797,215 for FY26, a 5.3% increase over the previous year, according to the proposed budget.
“We’ve worked hard to present a balanced, forward-looking budget that reflects the priorities of our residents,” Giordano added. “I’m confident this budget positions Wicomico County for a stronger, more prosperous future, even in the face of fiscal headwinds.”
Portions of the proposed budget can be found here, and Giordano says the full budget will be released once the County Council has approved it. Public hearings will also be held on the budget before final approval, according to Giordano.
Wicomico County’s Fiscal Year 2026 begins on July 1, 2025.
