WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. -- A recently announced partnership between Wicomico County and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is in jeopardy as Maryland lawmakers move to ban such agreements statewide.
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. -- A decision has been made to put a proposed 287(g) agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on the backburner. A memo sent out by Maryland's Attorney General Anthony Brown is what ultimately led to the decision.
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. -- At Tuesday night's county council meeting, about three dozen people spoke out against a proposed agreement with ICE. County leaders began investigating the idea in July.
The Wicomico Coalition said Sept. 2 in a statement that they are urging the Wicomico County Council to reject the 287(g) Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agreement.
HB 182 prohibits local agencies from assisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through the 287(g) program and requires the termination of any existing ICE agreements in the state.
