The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) has announced the conclusion of a months-long investigation into the illegal killing of numerous bald eagles and hawks on the Eastern Shore.
Though it has been the national emblem of the United States since the late 1700’s, the bald eagle was never formally recognized as the country’s national bird - until this week.
The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a downed bald eagle in Oxford today, leading to the bird’s rescue.
