The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company responded to a trailer fire near Oak Orchard Wednesday afternoon.
OAK ORCHARD, De. -- People in Sussex County are feeling the brunt of what was Tropical Storm Ophelia. Especially in Oak Orchard and Millsboro, where homes and parks are practically underwater.
The small Oak Orchard community sits on the Indian River Bay, and it's no stranger to flooding during storms and high tides. Monday was no different as neighbors watched flood waters cover their backyards and roadways as a result of a nor'easter spawned by Hurricane Ian.
Authorities are investigating a Monday afternoon grass fire that got out of control and spread to buildings, RV campers, and boats in the Oak Orchard area east of Millsboro.
Authorities say fires that damaged two houses on Oak Orchard Road near Millsboro were set intentionally. The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal said both fires occurred to separate unoccupied homes located next to each other in the 32000 block of Oak Orchard Road.
WBOC is proud to serve Oak Orchard, DE, and all of Sussex County.
