The Town of Ocean City says they are now accepting grant applications for Beach District plants to be planted in the secondary dune area. Grants will also be awarded for Pollinator Garden plants to start or extend an existing garden on non-beach front properties. Each plant category has a limited number of grants.
The City of Salisbury’s Sustainability Advisory Committee, known as the Green Team, has received a $20,000 grant to expand pollinator habitat efforts within city limits.
Bee distributors and keepers have reported mysterious and dramatic spikes in honey bee die-offs recently, and local beekeepers say the impacts of the deaths may soon be felt at farms and grocery stores if they continue.
