DELMARVA. -- Our meteorologists reported the winds on Wednesday, June 26th got up to about 60 miles per hour. Branches were snapped off trees, chicken coops were turned upside down and a trampoline ended up far away from home.
The heavy rain, strong winds and higher than normal tides have caused major flooding down the coast. Many areas in Sussex county are under water and it is expected to get worse as the night moves on into Saturday morning. Parts of Millsboro, closer to the Indian River, are completely submerged.
The Harrington-Milford area was not the only location on Delmarva that received damage from Thursday's storms. The National Weather Service has confirmed to WBOC the damage on Taylors Island was the result of straight line winds - not a tornado.
