A proposed state pilot project that would have converted part of Ocean City’s bus lane into a dedicated bike lane is now on hold after town leaders raised concerns about how the change could affect traffic and public safety along Philadelphia Avenue.

Ocean City officials are formally opposing a proposed State Highway Administration pilot project on Philadelphia Avenue, arguing the plan could create new safety risks for bus riders, drivers and others traveling through one of the town’s busiest corridors.

Ocean City will soon test green bike lane markings on portions of St. Louis Avenue as part of a new safety pilot program approved by the Ocean City Council.

City of Salisbury officials have announced the restoration of traffic flow from Circle Avenue to U.S. Route 13 on Carroll Street and the reduction of the street’s “extra-wide” bike lanes.
