The City of Milford’s redevelopment plan started at the beginning of 2016, making its mission the expansion of economic development opportunities, restoration of aging infrastructure and preparation for future growth.
In Milford Mayor Bryan Shupe’s latest announcement, he expresses his gratitude for the dedication of the city employees as well as the energy, enthusiasm and engagement from the residents, businesses and non-profit organizations throughout the process. Shupe says the goal of the process is to build a stronger community and create a foundation for Milford to build upon in the future.

Bayhealth’s New Milford Campus Breaks Ground
Construction of Bayhealth’s new campus began on 165 acres of land near Milford. CEO Terry Murphy says the years-in-the-making project will allow them to continue to grow confidently over the next 50 to 100 years.
Touch of Italy Announces Newest Location in Downtown Milford
On Wednesday, June 29, owners of Touch of Italy, with the help of city officials and M&T Bank, showed off the restaurant’s newest location on the corner of Walnut and Front street in downtown Milford.
Touch of Italy owner, Bob Ciprietti, owns several Touch of Italy locations on Delmarva and Mayor Bryan Shupe says the new restaurant will be a great fit.
“We’re very thankful that M&T Bank chose Touch of Italy as the individuals to sell to,” Shupe says. “One of the things we would like to see in downtown Milford is more restaurants. If you look at other communities like Lewes, the restaurants really drive that foot traffic down there and foot traffic is what we need to drive to the other businesses and boutiques, the art galleries.”

Repairing and Planning Infrastructure in Milford
The City of Milford has spent the past six months repairing aging infrastructure while preparing for growth throughout the city.
Infrastructure improvements throughout 2016 include South East Milford Well and Water Treatment Facility, South East Milford Elevated Storage Tank Project, Washington Street Water Treatment Plant and Washington Street Elevated Storage Tank Rehabilitation.
The city also plans to make sewer improvements, including Fisher Avenue Pump Station Rehabilitation, North Street Pump Station Rehabilitation, Shawnee Acres Pump Station Replacement, inflow and infiltration improvements project and system wide SCADA improvements.
In addition to the above mentioned improvements, the Streets Department will repair roadways in Milford with Truitt Avenue and Airport Road.
Milford Housing Development Corporation Builds New Family Homes Downtown
On June 13, Milford Housing Development Corporation celebrated their completion of the third and final duplex on NW 4th Street in Milford.
MHDC is a non-profit 501(c)3 with a mission to help families of modest means secure safe and affordable housing. MHDC is always interested in talking with lenders and communities ab out similar projects; acquiring, repairing, renovating and reselling foreclosed properties to help families and meet their mission.

We Are Milford Mural Project Unveils Artwork to the Public
On Sunday, April 10, the ‘We Are Milford Mural Project’ unveiled its most recent piece of artwork in Downtown Milford.
Downtown Milford Inc. Executive Director Lee Nelson unveiled the mural with the help of the artists. Lori Conner, Gilberto Rodriguez and DeMarcus Shelborne collaborated on this piece and participated in the reveal, along with the six students who have helped with the project. During the unveiling, there was a short presentation from the artists on their inspiration for the piece.
The mural is located off of Park Avenue in Milford, on the side of Arena’s Sports Bar.
