Amazon to Open New Distribution Facility in Seaford

SEAFORD, Del.- In partnership with the City of Seaford and Gillis Gilkerson,

Principal Brad Gillis of NAI Coastal recently brokered a lease bringing Amazon to Sussex County.

Beginning in May 2021, Amazon will occupy +/- 104,000 square feet and 12 acres of commercial land at 1700 Dulany St. in Seaford.

“Sussex County is in the midst of experiencing rapid, widespread residential and commercial growth,” Gillis said. “Amazon’s establishment of a physical presence on the Delmarva Peninsula signals the community’s continued development alongside its population.”

According to Gillis Gilkerson, delivery stations like the one planned for Dulany Street allow Amazon to provide fast and efficient delivery for customers, as well as countless jobs to communities nationwide.

“We are very happy Amazon chose Seaford,” said Mayor David Genshaw. “The creation of new jobs is a huge win for our city and beyond. We look forward to working with them in their efforts to better serve their customers here on Delmarva.”

Upon completion of renovations, the new Amazon facility is expected to bring hundreds of full and part-time jobs starting at $15 per hour to the City of Seaford. With parking for 550+ vehicles and convenient access to interstates leading to Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and Wilmington, the Dulaney Street property is positioned to become one of the Eastern Shore’s leading distribution centers.

“As the world’s largest online marketplace and one of the country’s top private employers, Amazon is a lucrative addition to our regional economy.” added Gillis.

Prior to leasing, Gillis negotiated the sale of the Dulany Street property on behalf of Gillis Gilkerson’s development team, a group well-known for their ability to maximize the value of underutilized buildings. In a matter of months, the team transformed the vacant +/- 208,000 square foot warehouse into an industrial asset.
