Today: Partly to mostly sunny with the chance of a stray shower / storm. Not a promise or guarantee you will get rain, but chances are there for a storm. Best chance of a shower / storm across the southern Mid-shore. Highs: 80-85 (75-78 Beach). Winds: N-NE 5-15 mph.
Tonight: A few showers / storms possible into the evening hours with a complex of storms moving in from the northwest. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy with some fog possible as we wake up. Lows: 72-77. Winds: NE-SE 5-15 mph.
Thursday: Partly to mostly sunny with the chance of a few showers / storms. Highs: 88-95. Winds: S-SW 5-15 mph.
Thursday Night: Partly to mostly cloudy with the chance of a few showers / storms. Lows: 72-78. Winds: SW 5-15 mph.
Friday: Partly to mostly sunny with the chance of a few showers / storms. Highs: 84-92. Winds: SW 5-20+ mph.
Saturday: Partly to mostly sunny with lower humidity values. Highs: 80-86 (75-78 Beach). Winds: NE 5-20+ mph.
The muggy feel to the air lingers this morning as the air feels heavy across Delmarva. We will be placed directly below the “ring of fire” or the area of greatest instability near the ridge of high pressure. We will see wave after wave of quick moving energy. These pieces of energy will easily trigger scattered showers and storms each day that could pack a punch with strong and gusty winds, very heavy rain, lots of lightning. It will be a day to day examination, but an isolated threat of a tornado will not be able to be ignored.
An interesting setup for today as the humidity remains, but the wind comes in off the Atlantic. It will be a bit breezy as we could see a few gusts over 20-25 mph this morning and early this afternoon that should help to establish the “Delmarva Bubble” and keep any action from developing across the region today. If we see a stray pop-up shower / storm today would be across the southern Mid-shore where temperatures could reach into the mid 80s. Most of us will be in the low 80s inland and 70s at the beach today. We will be watching a complex of storms on the ring of fire trying to arrive late this evening into tonight…might be something to watch as the warm front sneaks back north heading into Thursday morning.
Watching a much stronger cold front that will start to push south on Thursday and Friday will help to trigger off some scattered showers and thunderstorms both days. The front itself will not be the true trigger, but the front will be used as a guide to allow clusters of thunderstorms to roll toward Delmarva and keep things active for both days. Timing will be an issue that we will need to take on a day to day basis, but at the moment I am looking at a cluster of storms late day on Thursday and another cluster of storms in the mid-afternoon hours of Friday. Again, timing is subject to change…but, that is where we are at this point in the forecast period.
This front will clears early on Saturday and set up for a gorgeous holiday weekend with sunshine and low humidity. In fact, dare I say, we will see our first real touch of fall in the air as temperatures only climb up into the 70s and low 80s for highs on Sunday and Memorial Day Monday with morning temperatures in the 50s both on Sunday and Monday morning. We will return to our traditional early September warmth heading into the middle of next week with a chance of some showers and storms again by Thursday of next week.
