FORECAST DISCUSSION
Normal high: 66°F. Normal low: 44°F.
It has been a pleasant start to the work week, with mostly sunny skies and seasonably warm temperatures.
A cold front will approach Delmarva Monday evening, causing cloud cover to increase. As the front gets closer, it will bring with it a chance for some thunderstorms. While the greatest threat for severe storms is confined to areas west of the Chesapeake Bay, there is a low chance that any storms over Delmarva could briefly become strong to severe, with damaging winds and hail the main threats.
Timing of storms will be late evening into very early Tuesday morning.
The front will clear Delmarva by Tuesday morning, with scattered showers lingering through the morning. Then a secondary cold front will swing through, which will turn the skies mostly sunny by afternoon, but very windy. Winds from the west could gust to 30 mph or more at times. Gale Warnings are posted for the Chesapeake Bay on Tuesday.
High pressure then settles in for the rest of the work week, with mostly sunny skies. Cool highs on Wednesday in the upper 50s will climb into the upper 60s by Friday ahead of our next cold front.
Ahead of that front, on Saturday, temperatures will soar into the upper 70s with a gusty southwest breeze. Right now, guidance is not suggesting much precipitation with this frontal system, but I am going to put a chance for scattered showers or thunder in the forecast for Saturday afternoon and evening.
Temperatures drop back to seasonable upper 60s by Sunday.
In the long range, temperatures are expected to average above normal, and precipitation above normal for April 21 - April 27.
