FORECAST DISCUSSION

Normal high: 85°F. Normal low: 65°F.

It's the first full day of astronomical summer, and it's starting off on the unsettled side.

A warm front is lifting up over Delmarva Monday afternoon, bringing warm and more humid air, and acting as the focal point for showers and thunderstorms Monday evening.

There is a *Severe Thunderstorm Watch* for all of Delmarva until 9 p.m. Some storms Monday night could be strong to severe. Damaging winds, heavy downpours, and frequent lightning are the main threats. Some hail is possible, and there is a low, but non-zero threat for a tornado. These storms could be efficient rain-makers, and given dry ground that is now at a point where is doesn't absorb water well, localized flash flooding could be a problem in downpours.

Storms are expected to come to an end by midnight.

Tuesday will again be unsettled as a cold front slowly crosses the region. Expect partly cloudy skies with some scattered showers in the morning. Scattered thunderstorms enter the forecast for Tuesday afternoon.

Warm high pressure builds in for Wednesday and Thursday, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Friday and Saturday will be hot, with highs within a degree or three of 90°F, with chances for afternoon pop-up thunderstorms.

In the long range, temperatures are expected to be above normal, and precipitation above normal for Jun 29 - Jul 5.

In the Tropics: There are no areas of development interest at this time.
