FORECAST DISCUSSION

Normal high: 64°F. Normal low: 43°F.

It has been a wet Friday on most of Delmarva, with more, mostly welcome, rain on the way.

As a low pressure system located over the Carolinas slowly moves northeast, we'll see periods of rain Friday evening. While most of this rain will be of the beneficial, light-to-moderate type, there could be some embedded heavier downpours, and even a rumble of thunder (although strong storms are not expected). Where heavier downpours set up, there is a low chance for isolated flooding in low-lying and poorly drained areas. Ponding of water on roadways is also possible, so be careful if you have to be on the roads tonight.

Gusty winds could also reduce visibility in addition to the rain.

After midnight, the rain will become more showery and scattered in nature.

The storm will slowly pull away, which means that our Saturday will see scattered, mainly light, showers under cloudy skies and cool afternoon highs in the low 50s. It will be breezy, with northerly winds gusting to 25 mph or more at times.

While a few light showers could linger into early Sunday morning, at this point I am expecting Sunday to be dry, but with a lot of lingering clouds. However, I do think we will see some sun over Delmarva on Sunday.

Just in time to head back to work, Monday will be a beautiful day with sunshine and highs in the low 70s.

I've backed the temperature forecast for Tuesday down a few degrees as a few, mainly dry, cold fronts will cross Delmarva. While most of these fronts will be dry, I also am adding a low chance for a few stray showers, but no heavy rain is expected.

Cool sunshine is expected on Wednesday.

In the long range, temperatures are expected to average near normal, and precipitation near normal for April 18 - April 24.
