DOVER, Del. (AP) - Veterans and military servicemembers in Delaware are being cautioned to be aware of financial scams aimed at taking advantage of them.
Holly Petraeus was the keynote speaker at a fair in Dover on Wednesday aimed at helping veterans. She is assistant director of servicemember affairs for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Petraeus says the agency has many resources available for servicemembers and veterans on its website.
She says servicemembers may not be familiar with the laws in areas were they are moved, and that some shady businesses might locate close to military bases to draw people in who don't know who the legitimate players are in the area.
The Delaware Department of Justice coordinated the event at Delaware State University.
