PIKE CREEK, Del. (AP/WBOC)- A former teacher and athletic director at a Delaware high school has pleaded guilty to sexual solicitation of a child.
The Delaware Department of Justice announced Brian R. Budd's plea on Monday.
Police said that in July 2016 the 34-year-old Columbus, New Jersey, resident told the 16-year-old boy he would introduce him to a 20-year-old woman. But when the teen arrived at the meeting spot behind a store, he found Budd. Police say Budd pretended to be the woman in a text, asking the teen to allow Budd to perform a sex act. The boy called 911.
Budd was the athletic director at Thomas McKean High School in Wilmington, where he also taught math and coached swimming.
He faces up to 15 years in prison at sentencing later this year.
