HANCOCK, Md. (AP/WBOC)- Maryland State Police say two men - including one from Fruitland, Md. - are dead and a woman is seriously injured after a wrong-way collision on eastbound Interstate 70 near Hancock in Washington County.
Police say 35-year-old Mohamud Ali of Eagan, Minnesota, died after the tractor-trailer he was driving hit a passenger car traveling west in the eastbound lanes about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. The truck then hit a bridge abutment.
A passenger in the car, 22-year-old James Benge, of Fruitland, also died in the crash.
His mother, 57-year-old Kim Benge, of Fruitland, was driving the car. She's being treated at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
The truck was hauling grapes. The eastbound lanes were closed several hours after the crash.
