CAMBRIDGE, Md--It's easy to learn about black history in a text book or online, but a pair of tour guides in Dorchester County is bringing those lessons to life. It's all a part of a Harriet Tubman tour in Cambridge, Md.
Friday, visitors were able to follow the footsteps of Dorchester native and abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
Visitors got a glimpse into the life of slaves like Tubman and life during the 18th century in Dorchester County.
Some of the historic sites visitors got to see were the Dorchester County District Court House, The Long Wharf Park, and the Harriet Tubman Museum.
"It's breathtaking, because you read about it in the books all the time, but to actually see pictures and different artifacts is kind of haunting. It takes you back," says visitor, Sam Cooms.
Tour guide, Alex Green, says Cambridge is a valuable place for information.
"There's a hub because of the rich history in this area. It's not Harriet Tubman, we have a lot of information in this area that needs to be told," says Green.
A journey towards knowledge, historians hope visitors continue after Friday's tour.
