Typically Apple Discount Drugs is churning out generic prescriptions, but today they doing something different inside their labs today.

Making Hand Sanitizer.

"It came about by request, we got some requests from local businesses." Says Rob Horsey, a pharmacist inside the lab in Fruitland.

"Plus health facilities [they were} saying that they ran out of hand sanitizer, as well as the general public.

So as any good scientist/pharmacist would do, Horsey and company are making their own batch, for sale to the public and retailers.

Apple Discount Drugs joins many other businesses, including distilleries, that are making the sought after disinfectant during these trying times.

The store in Fruitland is selling 4 ounce bottles for just under 13 dollars. But even though they are wildly popular, Horsey says you should always stick to the basics.

"Its not going to replace soap and water, soap and water is the most effective way to kill bacteria and viruses on the hand."
