This parking lot may be full of cars today, but tomorrow it'll be empty.
"It's good that they are closing," says Gloria Gaines, resident from Delmar, DE.
Many stores like Staples, Sam's Club, The Home Depot, Barnes and Noble, Marshalls, and Petsmart will all be closed on Thanksgiving Day, bringing the national total to nearly 100 stores.
Lorrie Dollar, Salisbury resident, says, "I think it's great! I think Thanksgiving is for family being together and you can shop every other day."
The Raynes are gearing up now for the holiday.
Michael Rayne, Salisbury resident, "We have a lot of great goodies planned and the turkey is brining right now."
And their goal is to spend it with family...not shopping... and definitely not working.
Karen Rayne says, "You can shop anytime, you can shop from home. So let the people who work not have to work."
Rayne does see a downfall because some stores are essential.
Michael Rayne adds, "If you have a medical emergency or need a pharmacy to fill a prescription or if you need some kind of medicine or treatment that bad, they're closing because those places are open 24/7."
Jared Messeck says these stores should be open only if they have enough people to keep them staffed.
"I don't think anyone should be forced to work on Thanksgiving, but they should be given the option," says Messeck.
While many stores are closed on Thanksgiving nearly everyone in the retail business will be back to work early Friday.
