BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland State Police are investigating two highway crashes they say included 16 cars and seven tractor-trailers.

The first crash happened just after 3 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 95 in Howard County. Police say eight cars and five tractor-trailers were involved. Police say there were two minor injuries.

The second crash happened just before 6 a.m. on State Route 50 by the Severn River Bridge. Police say that crash involved eight cars and two tractor-trailers. No major injuries were reported.

Police could not immediately say whether icy road conditions were a factor in the crashes.

Both crashes are under investigation.
