DENTON, Md.- Inside a home in Caroline county, a family is in mourning. They say it doesn't feel real that seven children and their father are gone so suddenly, so tragically. They find solace in each other, but Tyisha Chambers, Rodney Todd's ex-wife and mother to those seven young children says nothing can erase the pain.
"It feels good for the support, but it's still not going to bring them back. I'm just so hurt," said Chambers.
Chambers says although she and Rodney were divorced, she was still involved in her children's lives until the end.
"They were my bundles of joy. They were my babies. I only remember fond moments with them, that's what I'm focusing on now."
Rodney Todd Jr, the eighth and oldest child who was not home during the tragedy, says he is relying on God to get through this time.
"Only thing I can do is keep my head up and keep praying, and believe in God and just keep doing what I have to do to be a good man," said Todd Jr.
Tyisha's great aunt Rosetta Downes is also trusting in God to get by.
"Every morning now I wake up and I think about them, I have to ask god to cover me, to keep me. Because it really bothers me," said Downes.
The family is relying on their fond memories as well.
"They were my best friends, everything. They were everything to me man, and now that they are gone man, it just hurts my heart real bad man," said Todd Jr.
On North Fourth Street where Tyisha lives in Denton is where a candlelight vigil will be held on Saturday evening, to remember the seven children and their father. A separate memorial will be held Friday night at 7pm outside the home in Princess Anne.
