REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Welcoming back the First Family. Monday, President Biden and his wife landed in Rehoboth Beach, where they will stay until Thursday.
Marine One dropped the President off at Gordons Pond. A group of excited onlookers gathered near his neighborhood in North Shores, to welcome the President back to Southern Delaware.
President Biden and the First Lady left the White House right before 12:30 Monday morning, and touched down in Rehoboth Beach less than an hour later. While President Biden has had his vacation house for years, neighbors say since he got elected president, their normally quiet neighborhood hears a lot more buzz.
"No doubt about the buzz. A million people drive by and sometimes ask, 'Is this the way? Is this the way?' and sometimes I say no," said Karen Schmeiderman, who lives in the same neighborhood as the President.
While he is taking it easy, at least for Monday evening, people are hoping he makes an appearance downtown during his stay, as he has done many times before.
He has been known to visit some of his favorite spots like the Coffee Mill.
"He would walk around town without anyone, with his dogs and grandchildren and family. They would visit numerous places around Rehoboth Beach because Rehoboth has always been his summer place," said co-owner of the Coffee Mill, Bob Cartwright.
The President joined the weekly economic briefing virtually Monday afternoon. There's no word on what plans he or the First Lady have for the week. They are expected to be in Rehoboth Beach until Thursday.
