SALISBURY, Md.- Wicomico County officials are addressing the safety of certain roadways in the area.
Wilson Jones has been driving through Salisbury long enough to find ways around the roads he finds unsafe, like the Route 13 bypass.
Jones said he supports the county attempts to makes the bypass safer.
"It's very dangerous, it's a wonder that there is an accident every time you come out here, they merge to try to get in," Jones said.
President of the Wicomico County Council, John Cannon said he questions the how much thought actually went into the planning process when designing the access points to and from the bypass.
"Anytime you are talking about Route 13 or Route 50 and the bypass itself, that's a major congested area at times and with the amount of traffic that is going through there you better make sure that you have all the precautions in place," Cannon said.
Wicomico County council sent a priority letter to the Maryland Department of Transportation recommending improvements on state roadways.
County officials want to improve access and reduce merging and weaving between drivers.
However, not everyone thinks it is an inconvenience.
Richard Scott has lived in Salisbury for over three decades, witnessing the bypass construction and completion.
He thinks more of the bypass safety concerns stem from people failing to know when to yield to on coming traffic.
For Scott, the bypass makes it easier for him to get around.
"The amount of traffic coming down the bypass eliminates going through town and also causes the people to travel as a regular speed that is safe," Scott said.
Thursday evening there is a meeting between the county council and the Maryland Department of Transportation to discuss the plans moving forward.
