SALISBURY, Md.- A 21-year-old man and former president of the Salisbury University Student Government Association is facing six felonies of soliciting child pornography.
On July 24, 2020 detectives assigned to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office's Child Advocacy Center received a complaint from a concerned mother in reference to social media messages that Brendan Link, of Nottingham, Md., reportedly sent to the complainant’s 16-year-old son.
Throughout the course of an extensive investigation, detectives executed search warrants on two homes, numerous electronic devices and social media accounts.
The mother discovered that Link was soliciting her son for sex acts and pornography through Snapchat messages, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Charging documents state that Link tried to persuade the boy to let him film him having sex with girls, and then sell the recording.
Before becoming the student government president at Salisbury University, he was vice president.
Salisbury University issued a statement saying, "SU normally does not comment on legal issues faced by individual students; however, I can confirm that Brendan Link is currently enrolled at SU. He was elected as Student Government Association president in April and resigned in July."
Link also previously worked at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury.
On Sept. 15, 2020 detectives submitted an application of charges for Link to the Wicomico County District Court Commissioner’s Office, which subsequently issued a criminal summons for Link.
Link has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 15 in the Wicomico County District Court.
