CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Maryland State Police say a serious accident on Route 50 in Cambridge has shut down part of Route 50.
State Police tell WBOC the Eastbound and Westbound lanes of Route 50 near Chateau Road were closed as of 8:30 p.m. to allow a helicopter to land.
Police say the initial call came in just after 8:00 p.m. for a one-vehicle accident. Police say the initial report said eight people were in need of medical attention. Police say one person is being flown to the hospital out of caution. No word on the condition of the other patients.
State Police were still on the scene as of 8:30 p.m. They tell WBOC the lanes will reopen once the helicopter takes off. This is an ongoing investigation.
