DOVER, Del.- Delaware transportation authorities say that this past holiday weekend, nearly 860,505 motorists passed through Delaware's three toll plaza locations on I-95 in Newark, Route 1 at Biddle's Corner and Route 1 in Dover. The Delaware Department of Transportation reports that between Thursday, July 4 and Sunday, July 7, the I-95 Newark Plaza served 383,094 vehicles; Route 1 Biddle's Corner served 248,641 vehicles; and Dover's Route 1 Plaza served 228,770 vehicles.
It is estimated that $2.4 million was collected in tolls during the four-day period at Delaware's toll plazas. The convenience of E-ZPass and the electronic toll collection system, contributed to over 57 percent of the counted trips utilized. Motorists can make their trips on I-95 and Route 1 more convenient by maintaining an E-ZPass account.
