OCEAN CITY, Md. - A piece of the Ocean City skyline will not return this summer. Trimper's Ferris Wheel is gone for the season. In June, the Ferris wheel came down because of a zoning violation. It was brought back up before being taken down again July 18th. The owner of the Ferris wheel, Michael Wood with Biggest Wheel LLC says the wheel has to leave Ocean City because of contractual obligations.

"I explained at the time that I have some long term contractual obligations to the Wisconsin and Minnesota State Fairs and that I would be available essentially from the first part of Wisconsin to the middle of July," Wood said.

Trimper's Rides in Ocean City rents the Ferris Wheel from Biggest Wheel LLC. Wood said Trimper's wanted to keep the wheel in Ocean City, but they could not because of the obligations to the state fairs.

"Obviously they inquired that is there anything I could do to get out of those contractual obligations because they really wanted the wheel there for the season and I said no there just isn't." Wood said.

Dorina Timbol has been coming to Ocean City for years. She says she wishes the wheel stayed and feels for the kids.

"I think the kids here will be very disappointed. They look forward to being here and the rides and to do it again is just very disappointing," Timbol said.

Wood said he would like to keep coming back to Ocean City in the years to come. However, if the wheel were to be brought back next year, the same obligations would apply, meaning the wheel would once again leave Ocean City in the middle of the summer.
