DENTON, Md. - Several questions remain unanswered after Jonathan Newell died by suicide on Friday.
The Caroline County Circuit Court judge was about to be arrested on a criminal complaint related to the sexual exploitation of a minor.
On Monday, Newell's name was still listed as a presiding judge on the Maryland Judiciary's website.
The Governor's Office tells WBOC, "There is no timetable at this point" for replacing Newell on the bench.
Various judges have overseen Newell's docket since he went on administrative leave in late July.
Replacing Newell will fall in the hands of Gov. Larry Hogan, who originally appointed him as judge in 2016.
Unsealed court documents show Newell, 50, recorded video of underaged boys naked in the shower of a cabin Newell shared in Fishing Creek, Md.
Caroline County State's Attorney Joe Riley urges anyone aware of exploitation of a minor to report it to local law enforcement or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
