BLADES, Del. - Delaware State Police arrested two people in connection with a gas station robbery in Blades.
Police say on Tuesday, a suspect walked into the Royal Farms on Concord Road around 2:23 a.m., confronted a male employee and demanded money. The employee turned over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect ran away, police said.
According to Delaware State Police, detectives began receiving tips shortly after the surveillance images were shared in the news and on social media. Police also received information regarding a woman spotted driving the suspect along with vehicle information. Based on that, troopers identified the suspect as 33-year-old David Morris Jr., of Seaford. The woman driving the car was identified at 27-year-old Ashley Stephens, of Georgetown.
Troopers in Bridgeville spotted the vehicle on Aug. 9, and conducted a traffic stop. Police say both Stephens and Morris were in the car, along with Stephens' 2-year-old daughter.
Police took both Morris and Stephens into custody. Through further investigation, police learned Stephens had driven Morris to the Royal Farms with her daughter in the car when the robbery occurred.
Morris was charged with 1st-degree robbery, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, 2nd-degree conspiracy, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned at JP2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $55,000 secured bond.
Stephens was charged with 1st-degree robbery, 2nd-degree conspiracy, and endangering the welfare of a child. She was also arraigned at JP2 and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution on $22,000 secured bond.
