MARYLAND– The Biden-Harris Administration announced $15 million in grants to expand Maryland’s electric vehicle charging network and electrician workforce.

The Maryland Clean Energy Center will use the funds to install 58 charging stations across the state in proposed areas including faith-based properties, municipal sites and disadvantaged communities.

The grants are part of the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant Program – a $623 million push to build a national network of at least 500,000 publicly-accessible EV chargers.

"These investments will provide drivers with convenient charging options in addition to addressing climate change, creating good-paying jobs, and boosting the economy,” Transportation Secretary Polly Trottenberg said.

CFI also includes workforce development investments to train and fund under-represented groups in the electric industry with the goal of certifying 600 new electricians in Maryland.
