PRINCESS ANNE - A 17-year-old from Westover will spend 50 years in jail for raping a sleeping woman in Princess Anne when he was 15-years-old.
Somerset County Judge Daniel Powell sentenced Zarion McBride, 17, to life with all but 50 years suspended on September 18th. McBride will also have 5 years supervised probation following his incarceration, and will have to register as a sex offender for life.
McBride pleaded guilty to first degree rape following an incident on September 15, 2021 on UMES Boulevard in Princess Anne. The victim told police she had awoken in her bed to a stranger raping her but was eventually able to fight him off. The suspect then fled out the window, which he had used to break into the apartment.
A description of the suspect led police to arrest McBride, and the victim was able to identify him from a lineup. DNA and fingerprint evidence further established McBride as the suspect.
