MILTON, DE - The Delaware State Police are investigating a Milton homicide that left a woman dead inside her own home last night.

Police say they were called to the home on West Springside Drive in Milton on Monday night just after 11:15 p.m. on reports of a shooting. There, police found 57-year-old Sonya Sheppard suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body. She died at the scene, according to police.

The ensuing investigation reportedly revealed an unknown suspect had shot the victim’s home multiple times. One of those rounds pierced into the home, striking and killing the woman, according to police.

The Delaware State Police say they currently have no suspect information, and ask anyone with information to call them at 302-741-2703.
