National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

DELMARVA - Local agencies in Delaware and Maryland are participating in the 28th DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 26th.

The Drug Enforcement Agency's (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day encourages the public in communities across the United States to drop off unused medications to local agencies. The DEA says Take Back Day works to reduce overdoses and misuses of medications.

In October 2024, the DEA says there were 4,644 collection sites across the country, and they collected 629,953 pounds or 314 tons of unused medications.

This year's National Take Back Day is scheduled for April 26th from 10:00am to 2:00pm. There are several law enforcement locations across Delmarva already signed up as drop-off sites. In Delaware, local agencies include the Georgetown, Lewes, and Felton police departments. In Maryland, several Maryland State Police Barracks are participating.
