EASTON, Md.- The Talbot County Sheriff's Office says a bomb threat was called into Easton Middle School Wednesday morning.
Around 9:30 a.m., officials say the school's front desk received the threat. The caller stated there were numerous explosive devices throughout the building, which would detonate at a specific time. School administration evacuated the students and staff from the school building.
Deputies with the Sheriff's Office brought bomb-detecting K-9 teams to complete a scan. During their investigation, officials say they learned there were numerous similar threats to schools throughout the state, including schools in Frederick, Carroll, Charles, and Wicomico Counties. Investigators say the calls were made from a New Jersey area code.
Staff and students were reportedly allowed to return after the scan was complete. Officials say they do not have any suspects identified and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Talbot County Sheriff's Office.
