CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Cambridge Police Department yesterday announced the arrest of 31-year-old Jasmen Aven Merritt in connection with two alleged burglaries.

Around 4 p.m. on Sept. 18, officers responded to reports of a home burglary in the 700 block of Washington Street and made contact with the victim, according to a press release. Police say a suspect stole several items from the person’s home while they were at work, before another witness saw the suspect exit the home.

The witness reportedly identified the suspect as Merritt, providing a description of his appearance and clothing.

Upon entry, they found Merritt hiding in a bathroom wearing the same clothes described by the previous witness, according to the press release.

Police arrested Merritt and transported him to the Cambridge Police Department for processing before turning him over to the Dorchester County Detention Center, where he is currently held without bond.
