PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- A tattoo shop on University Boulevard may finally be able to open its doors, but the town says the owner is not clear to start giving ink just yet. Studio Ink owner Rob West says he is expecting the town to lift the requirement of a doctor or osteopath being present during a tattoo, meaning his business can finally open.
“I feel like me having to work so hard to get this ordinance changed and really build this into something I can be proud of," West said. "I think it will make me appreciate it more."
Torie Pedone has gotten tattoos from West and says opening a tattoo shop in the community will also help surrounding business.
“It brings in revenue for other businesses as well because you are going to be there for two plus hours, you are going to want to go out to eat and go look around, do other things, you are going to have to get gas, and other stuff so you are going to be in town for a while,” Pedone said.
Princess Anne town leaders say they are still evaluating the decision and that the ordinance is on the agenda for the next town meeting. West says his clients have been waiting for months for him to open, so if he does get the green light he hopes his shop will be busy.
