Delmar Controlled Burn

DELMAR, DE - The Delmar Fire Department is alerting neighbors of a controlled burn being conducted near Delmar on March 28.

Officials with the fire department say the Delaware State Forestry Services and the Nature Conservancy are conducting the burn near Pepperbox Road east of the town.

New trees are expected to be planted after the burn in order to promote the growth of wildlife, according to the Delmar Fire Department.

Officials say the burn is expected to last most of Friday. Large plumes of smoke were visible in the area around 1 p.m.
