DELMAR, DE - The Delaware State Police have arrested a man on multiple charges after he allegedly led them on a brief car chase in Delmar yesterday.
Police say a trooper on patrol saw a red Chevrolet driven by William Timmons, 33, just before 9 p.m. last night near Susan Beach Road and White Deer Road. Williams was wanted in connection to an earlier investigation, according to police, and the trooper attempted a traffic stop.
Timmons then allegedly sped away from the trooper and a brief pursuit ensued. Timmons eventually pulled into a driveway on White Deer Road where he then ignored police commands to exit the vehicle, the Delaware State Police say. He allegedly continued to resist arrest until he was finally taken into custody.
Police say a search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and a bayonet in the back seat.
Timmons is a convicted felon and is barred from having a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $26,710 cash bond on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
