SALISBURY, MD - The Delmarva Chicken Association has announced the return of the Delmarva Chicken Festival in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Peninsula’s chicken industry.
The event is slated for this Saturday, October 7th, at the Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury from 1 to 7 p.m. It is the first Chicken Festival since the last one in 2014, according to the Association.
“The Delmarva Chicken Festival is coming back to the crossroads of Delmarva for the first time since 2014, and we’re thrilled to be celebrating 100 years of chicken history,” said Holly Porter, Delmarva Chicken Association’s executive director.
Planned attractions and events at the Festival include a marketplace, food vendors, a petting zoo, historical displays, baby chicks for visitors to hold, two stages for entertainment and programming, and more. Jimmy Charles, the Jones Boys, and Mike Hines & The Look are all slated to perform, according to the Chicken Association.
“The 2023 festival will pay homage to the long-running festival’s traditions, but with a modern twist, focusing on local food, live music, and family-friendly attractions,” the Delmarva Chicken Association said in a press release.
Allen Harim Foods, Amick Farms, Mountaire Farms, Perdue Farms, and Tyson Foods - Delmarva’s five chicken companies - are all listed as presenting sponsors of the 2023 Festival.
More information including a full schedule of events at the Festival can be found on the Delmarva Chicken Association’s website.
