CAMBRIDGE, MD - Multiple fire companies were called to a working fire at a car salvage yard in Dorchester County Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Cambridge Rescue Fire Company, the 3rd alarm fire drew requests for heavy-duty wreckers on the scene on Cordtown Road. Tanker and brush task forces were also called to the fire, according to officials with the Rescue Fire Company.
Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal says the fire happened around 11:45 a.m. at 5137 Cordtown Road. Officials say the fire was discovered by an employee in a garage bay, and was accidentally caused during the dismantling of a junk car.
The Fire Marshal's Office says it took 60 firefighters from multiple stations about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. Officials estimated around $180,000 in damage. No one was hurt during the fire, according to officials.
