DOVER, Del. - Dover police say a 27-year-old man is facing multiple charges after officers caught him attempting to burglarize a woman's home on Monday night.
Police said that shortly before 9 p.m., they received a call from a woman who stated that someone was trying to break into her home on the 800 block of South State Street. Officers responded to the house and reportedly observed Dwayne Tate, of Dover, wearing a mask and standing on the front porch of the home.
Police said officers attempted to take Tate into custody but he ran away. Tate was taken into custody after an officer used a Taser to stun him. After being arrested, Tate was found in possession of 9 grams of marijuana, according to police. Polie said that through the ensuing investigation it was found that Tate had broken a window to the home in an attempt to get inside.
Tate was committed to SCI on $12,500 secured bail on the following charges:
- Attempted first-degree burglary
- Wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony
- Resisting arrest
- Criminal mischief
- Possession of marijuana
