Delaware Lawmakers Eye Higher Campaign Contributions

DOVER, Del.- Delaware lawmakers on the state's capital improvements committee on Tuesday heard about how the state plans from to spend the lion's share of $183 million allocated for capital projects for schools.

The state's Joint Committee on Capital Improvement heard plans from officials in Gov. John Carney's administration about plans to build or renovate schools across the state.

Staff from the state's Department of Education discussed the plans during a committee meeting.

Although not in the state education department's capital budget request, Carney has proposed spending $50 million on building a new school and renovating others in the City of Wilmington.

The proposal has drawn some criticism from downstate lawmakers who have questioned whether it is equitable for the state to
