Wicomico County Public Schools Names Quarterfinalists for Wicomico Teacher of the Year

SALISBURY, Md.- Wicomico County Public Schools on Wednesday announced a revised timeline for returning to school for hybrid learning.

According to Superintendent of Schools Donna Hanlin, Wicomico County’s current trend in COVID-19 numbers does not allow WCPS to continue with its plan to have hybrid learning for prekindergarten through eighth grade on Jan. 4.

Hanlin said that as a result, and with the Board of Education's approval, on Jan. 4, all students will continue with virtual learning, with high school students beginning a full day virtual bell schedule.

On Jan. 11, teachers of prekindergarten to grade 8 will be in classrooms to prepare for the transition to hybrid learning. Hanlin said the plan is to have in-person hybrid learning for pre-K through grade 8 beginning the week of Jan. 19, if the health metrics have improved.

Hanlin said WCPS will update everyone around Jan. 4, once virtual instruction has resumed from the break and the post-holiday health metrics are known.
