SALISBURY, Md.- U.S. Rep. Andy Harris, (MD-01) announced Friday that Wor-Wic Community College on Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore has been awarded a $64,804 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Funds originated from the Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training Grant Program, and specifically, these grants dollars will be used to recruit and enroll veterans and/or their family members in the college’s Commercial Driver License program.
“As a veteran, I applaud the award of these funds to Wor-Wic Community College," Harris said. "Grant programs like this allow our local higher education institutions to offer certification for an in demand field to veterans and their families. This investment in the Eastern Shore workforce will help veterans transition to work in the private sector, keep valuable employees in the region and allow local businesses to prosper and grow.”
