DOVER, DE.- Delaware State Police have arrested 21-year-old Jeremiah Weatherspoon of Dover, in connection to a robbery. 

State Police say responded to a report of a robbery at the Shore Stop convenience store on South State Street in Dover on November 6, 2023 around 8 p.m. 

Investigators say that an unknown man wearing a mask entered the store and demanded money, implying he had a weapon concealed in a backpack. The employee on duty, identified as Jeremiah Weatherspoon, complied with the demands, and the suspect subsequently fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to troopers.

Detectives say that Weatherspoon had provided false information to the investigators and had coordinated the robbery with two other people while he was working his shift at the Shore Stop. Following their findings, detectives obtained arrest warrants for Weatherspoon.

Jeremiah Weatherspoon voluntarily surrendered himself at Troop 3 on Friday, where he was taken into custody. He has since been charged with the following felony offenses:

  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
  • Theft Greater than $1500
  • Provide False Statement to Law Enforcement with Intent to Delay/Hinder Investigation
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree

Weatherspoon was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was released on his own recognizance pending further legal proceedings.

The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing its efforts to investigate this incident further.
