New Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic Coming to Dover

VA Outpatient Clinic in Dover.

DOVER, Del.- Veterans in Kent and Sussex counties will be able to skip the long drive or bus trip to get to the Veterans Administration hospital in Elsmere for many exams or procedures that will be offered at a new outpatient clinic in Dover.

The new facility in the former Blue Hen Mall at 655 S. Bay Road in Dover will increase the clinic space from its current size of 9,000-square-feet to over 29,000-square-feet. The additional space will allow for the expansion of services such as primary care, behavioral health, specialty services and telehealth. Officials hosted a tour of the building on Wednesday.

Wilmington VA Medical Center Director Vincent Kane said the new clinic is an investment into the healthcare of veterans south of the C&D Canal.

"In VA it is our mission to put veterans first in everything we do and provide them with exceptional health. It is our privilege to meet the health care needs and challenges Veterans face. This clinic will be an example of that commitment.”

Kane said the facility will also offer services for audiology, ophthalmology, women's health, and mental health. It is scheduled to open in 2021.
