SOMERSET CO. - Some horsepower was needed over the weekend when a horse got stuck in a ditch in Somerset County.
The Mt. Vernon Volunteer Fire Company says on Saturday, Aug. 15, they were called to help a homeowner with a 25-year-old horse stuck.
Officials say they called veterinarians Dr. Noble and Dr. Yankus to safely sedate the horse, then quickly moved into action with help from the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company.
Fire officials say they used short bridles on each leg and assist equipment to lift the horse out in just 18 minutes.
They also say they are happy to report the horse made a full recovery.
