SELBYVILLE, DE - The Indian River School District (IRSD) has announced changes to the school district calendar after school days were extended last month.

On March 31, IRSD added 20 minutes to the school day to make up for lost days due to weather cancellations. The school district now says that change has resulted in unused surplus hours, allowing them to push the final day of school earlier.

According to IRSD, the Board of Education approved new changes to the 2024-2025 school district calendar on Monday, April 28. Those changes are as follows:

-Last day of school for Grades K-11 is now Wednesday, June 11

-Last day for preschool is Tuesday, June 10

-Students at Indian River and Sussex Central high schools will now be on Tuesday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 11

-Teachers’ last day will be Monday, June 16

-Last day for paraprofessionals will be Wednesday, June 11

-Infinite Campus training for staff is scheduled for Friday, June 13

-A remote half grades, half teacher work day is set for Thursday, June 12 for teachers.
